The following topics were raised at the 06/03/2026 meeting of the municipal district:
Motion – Councillor William Durkan
That the council undertakes a cleaning of all storm drains in Clane Town.
Report: The Municipal District office currently has a jet vactor in the district cleaning all gullies. The road gullies in Clane will be cleaned during these works.
Motion – Councillor William Durkan
That the council increase their current capacity to provide sandbags to private residents in cases of potential flooding throughout the municipal district.
Report: The Clane Maynooth Municipal District has in excess of 2,500 sandbags stored at 4 depots across the municipal district. Where a request for sandbags was received, the relevant General Services Supervisor for that area attended to assess if sandbags were required. We distributed approximately 500 sandbags on pallets as a precautionary measure to a number of locations. Based on the recent event and the response there is sufficient capacity.
Question – Councillor William Durkan
Can the council provide an estimated timeline of works for the provision of School Zone Markings at secondary schools throughout the municipal district?
Report: The installation of road markings is weather dependent and in general require road surface temperatures to be above 8 degrees and dry, with little or no night time frost to ensure longevity. It is proposed to progress the school zone markings during Quarter 2 and Quarter 3 of 2026.
Question – Councillor William Durkan
Can the council outline a potential timeline for the provision of new town signage in Johnstownbridge, given recent LPT allocations?
Report: The LPT allocation was approved at the February Municipal District meeting. The approved projects have been added to the Road Works Programme for 2026.
It is planned to order these signs in Quarter 2 with the installation carried out within a couple of weeks of them being delivered.
