Clane-Maynooth MD November 2026

The following motions and questions were raised at the 06/11/2026 meeting of the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District.

Motion – Councillor William Durkan
That the council inspects the condition of footpaths connecting Church View Lawns with Main Street, Prosperous and conduct necessary repairs as a matter of urgency.

Report: The Municipal District Engineer will carry out a technical assessment of the condition of this footpath to identify any remedial works required. Any works deemed required will be considered for inclusion in the 2027 Roads Maintenance Works Programme subject to funding being identified.

Motion – Councillor William Durkan
That the council inspects the condition of the 103251 Killinagh Carbury bus stop and arrange suitable works to include shelter upgrade as a matter of service user safety and to better accommodate those with accessibility needs.

Report: The requested upgrade of historic bus stop 103251, will be examined by the council. Should the location be determined to be suitable from a road safety point of view, the issue will be raised for discussion with the National Transport Authority (NTA) and service provider.
However, an initial desktop exercise would indicate that it would be very challenging to provide a safe in-line bus stop to comply with National Transport Authority guidelines at this location.

Question – Councillor William Durkan
Can the council provide a speed survey update on the recently opened Capdoo Relief Road, Clane?

Report: This speed survey request can be added to the list for completion

Question – Councillor William Durkan
Can the council outline its current position regarding the potential provision of dedicated dog waste bag dispensers and bins within the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District?

Report: The council’s Litter Management Plan 2026 – 2028 states that it is the responsibility of dog owners to remove their pets’ waste from public places and dispose of it in a proper manner.
Kildare County Council promotes the “Any Bag – Any Bin” campaign which reminds dog owners that dog waste can be cleaned up using any type of bag and disposed of in any bin. Therefore, the provision of separate dog waste bins or bag dispensers would be contrary to the Litter Management Plan and its associated campaigns.
